HELIDECK LEADING LIGHT

AGI were called upon by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to develop a new Helideck Lighting 'proof of concept' System to improve the safety of flights to offshore oil & gas platforms. Working with our partners on this project (Orga B.V), an improved system has been developed to improve pilot visual cueing in what is a very demanding environment. Utilising advanced high intensity; coloured LED technology the latest suite of Helideck Lighting is able to 'stand out' from the mass of ambient lights that are usually present on oil & gas platforms. Pilots involved in the initial assessments conducted by the CAA endorsed the system, declaring it to provide a significant improvement to flight safety.

Full production of the improved Helideck Lighting System commences very soon.

SUPPORTING THE UK's TWO NEW SUPER CARRIERS

AGI's Naval Aviation Business Unit delivers Visual Landing Aids to the Aircraft Carrier Alliance (A.C.A), just one month after the official start of construction of the Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carrier flight deck. AGI achieved this major milestone by delivering a significant number of Visual Landing Aids ready to be installed upon the completion of the flight deck.

This is the inaugural delivery of equipment by AGI, who will be supporting the ACA throughout the whole build program. The two new Super Carriers named Queen Elizabeth & Prince of Wales are set for delivery to the Royal Navy in 2015 & 2018 respectively.

WIND SENSOR UPGRADE TO AGI SURFACE WIND SYSTEMS AT LONDON AIRPORTS

AGI’s Met Business Unit has won an order to replace mechanical wind sensors with ultrasonic wind sensors at Gatwick, Stansted and Heathrow airports. The order from National Air Traffic Services (NATS) was an upgrade to the existing AGI supplied surface wind systems. The ultrasonic wind sensors will enable each of the airports to reduce their annual maintenance and support costs. The order follows a year long trial of the ultrasonic sensor at Heathrow airport, which proved that its output matched and exceeded the mechanical wind sensors performance.
