CAD Designer - Temporary

We are currently searching for an experienced CAD Designer to join our busy Airport Systems Division to undertake mechanical design, produce and maintain manufacturing documents including Drawings and Bills of material for a variety of products. This role is a temporary contract expected to last 3 month.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To work on specific projects under the guidance of the Engineering Manager and project Team Leads.
  • Carry out detailed mechanical design tasks to meet technical and commercial specifications
  • Calculate dimensions and weights of components, ensure dimensions provide full inter-changeability with associated parts
  • Create 3D models, assemblies and engineering drawings using Solidworks/CAD software.
  • Check, authorise and issue drawings for manufacture
  • To attend and actively participate in design reviews

 General Tasks:

  • Produce design layouts, manufacturing and support document package for a variety of electro-mechanical products using Solidworks and Draftsight software packages
  • Undertake processing of change notes, drawing checks and other administration duties
  • Examine/review design specifications, sketches, calculations and other data provided by others
  • Select of materials and compounds to be used that provide the most effective and economical method of manufacture

If you are proficient in the use of Solidworks or Autocad, along with having a familiarisation with MRP systems and electronic Bills of Materials, we would love to hear from you. Ideally you will be self-motivated and able to manage your own workload, possess a HNC, HND or degree in either a mechanical or electro-mechanical discipline, along with exceptional attention to detail, efficient time management and organisation skills, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation.
